“Some people survive and talk about it. Some people survive and go silent. Some people survive and create.”

CREATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY
One-to-one for adults and young people.
Creative Psychotherapy involves talking, body-mind connection and creative art within sessions. This combination provides inner experiences a channel for both expression and integration. Rich material emerges from somatic and arts-based inquiry that can reveal subconscious parts and memories held in our bodies, and stored in the more primitive part of the brain than our logical, thinking mind.
Therapy has been like a torch in the dark for me and many others I have worked with. It is a process of getting to know your emotions, thoughts and behaviours, identifying core issues, processing the past, and creating desired changes in your life.
You or your child might be experiencing anything from anxiety, addiction, grief or general feelings of overwhelm. Perhaps you feel like your situation isn’t severe enough to start, or you are not sure where to begin. You don’t need to know, or be in crisis, or have a mental health diagnosis to access therapy. Anyone can feel the benefits of self- understanding, improved relationships and more meaningful connections with the world around us.
Therapy can be particularly helpful if you are having difficulty with:
mental & emotional issues (including depression, anxiety, mood-related)
trauma symptoms (including hypervigilance, sleep and memory problems, agitation, substance misuse, attention/ ADHD, dissociation, trust or boundary issues)
any form of abuse (including sexual, emotional, psychological, spiritual, coercive control, financial, discriminatory, institutional)
developmental based and ASD (autism spectrum disorder)
body image
eating related issues
self-esteem
relationships
attachment
bereavement / loss
identity based
feeling disconnected from yourself
feeling disconnected from the world
There is focus on our relationship, where I prioritise understanding you, your experiences and ways of relating. With background training in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, I refer to natural and expressive body movement as an intelligent source of information. Moving creatively during sessions is always optional - see Dance and Movement page for further information if you are interested in this aspect.

Stages of the therapy process….

Then we will complete an agreement and assessment together - a space for mapping out and current difficulties, resources and tools, and what main areas of focus for therapy are alive.
Middle - The main therapy process, where sessions continue on a short or long term basis. Regular reviews are offered to check-in.
Ending - Sometimes this happens very naturally, or for a number of reasons sessions come to an end, hopefully with space to process it’s meaning and next steps.
